The UAE Telecoms Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced that analogue television broadcasts in the country will be shut down in 2013, and will be replaced by Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) channels, The National has reported. The new channels, which will be similar to Freeview digital stations in the UK, will require an aerial and decoder box to receive a signal. Other services could include pay per view and mobile video on demand.
