Google picks Ajay Vidyasagar to head You Tube in Asia

Google has appointed seasoned Indian broadcasting executive Ajay Vidyasagar to head up You Tube and its video solutions business for the Asia Pacific region, according to local reports.

Working out of Singapore, Ajay Vidyasagar’s new portfolio as regional director includes the burgeoning markets of China and India - according to afaqs! He will report to Shailesh Rao, Google’s managing director for Japan and the Asia Pacific, with immediate effect.

Mr Vidyasagar left Indian direct to home (DTH) broadcaster Sun TV Networks in February, where he had served as chief operating officer since June 2009. Prior to that he held the position of president, content and new media, Star India, where he was employed for 14 years, working out of both Chennai and Mumbai.
