Spain's leading multinational telco Telefónica has renewed and extended its contract with African satellite pay-TV operator Multichoice.
The telco provides the TV firm with satellite telecommunication services and the new contract with Africa's main satellite pay-TV operator is designed to allow the operator to offer more channels to its subscribers.
From its technical facilities in the central province of Guadalajara, Telefónica will give Multichoice the capability to offer clients a large number of HDTV channels. This centre includes a new 13 metre antenna in the DBS band which uplinks signals to Eutelsat's W7 satellite.
Finally in order to guarantee a quality service Telefónica has booked in its Guadalajara's technical centre a special room for future equipment and service extensions the African operator may require over the fifteen year period that the contract will run for.
