Doubts are growing as to the future of the Romanian-owned DTH platform Digi TV in the Czech Republic.
According to Digizone, it has failed to pay distribution fees for a number of channels it currently or has previously carried.
Furthermore, Ivan Hronec, the CEO of Film Europe and one of the founders of SPI International Central Europe, says he is suing Digi TV for around CZK20 million (€826,000).
Earlier this year Digi TV, which is owned by Romania’s RCS&RDS, withdrew HBO channels from several markets it operates in following what is believed to have been a financial dispute.
More recently, there has also been a dispute with the Nova Group, which is backed by CME, over the distribution of the channels Nova Sport and MTV.
Digi TV is believed to have a combined subscriber total of around 500,000 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It is one of five DTH platforms currently operating in each market
