French media group Lagardère is currently negotiating the acquisition of Romanian private news TV station Realitatea TV.

Realitatea Media belongs to investor Elan Schwartzenberg, who also owns two other TV channels and several weekly magazines.

According to reports in local daily the Jurnalul national, Lagardère Group is eyeing towards a defence contract in Romania, and the TV channel buyout would belong to a compensatory investment package.

Lagardère already runs two radio stations in Romania, Europa FM and Radio 21.
