German TV production company Spiegel TV will launch its planned web-TV service in mid-June. In addition to a live-stream, spiegel.tv will offer 12 channels on which viewers can pick their programmes of choice, reports German industry magazine "w&v".
The advertising slots will be marketed by service providers Spiegel QC and Smartclip. The live-stream will offer 24 hours per day programmes covering politics, current affairs, society, science and technology while the video-on-demand (VOD) service will offer supplementary formats and topics such as documentaries on travels and automobiles.
The German media authorities recently granted spiegel.tv a broadcast licence.
