Web TV TV5Monde+Afrique has celebrated its first year as a broadcaster dedicated to the African continent with landmark audiences.

The channel revealed that from June 2010 to March 2011, audiences doubled to break monthly records of 200,000 unique visitors in March with more than 1.1 million videos screened.

Viewers are based mostly in the US, then in France, Canada, Germany and Senegal. Viewers’ favourites are African drama series such as Ivory Coast programming Classe A, Dr Boris and Ma Famille. The web TV offers all kinds of programmes like short formats, movies, docs, sport, magazine and news editions.

Free of charge, TV5MONDE+Afrique is for now available worldwide from TV5monde.com’s African portal. But to answer this global web success, TV5Monde is planning to extend the web TV distribution to other kinds of platforms. This could include Facebook and connected TVs.
