The German private 9Live channel, part of ProSiebenSat.1, ends its controversial game call TV programming on Tuesday, May 31. The new programming format will consist of Astro TV during daytime and repeats of German and US TV series during prime time.
Call-in game programming on television has been the subject of much controversy in most countries. As a result, broadcasters in The Netherlands and Belgium already stopped such programmes. Now, Germany’s 9Live is to end this type of programming.
During access prime and prime time, 9Live will now broadcast German TV series and other programmes from the archives of ProSiebenSat.1, such as Verrückt nach Clara, Klinikum Berlin Mitte and Alles außer Sex between 18.45 and 22.30, followed by repeats of US series such as Nip/Tuck, Samantha Who?, The Class, The Practice and Who’s the Boss?.
During day and nighg time, there still will be call-in programming. Astro TV during the day and adult entertainment at night.
