Universal Networks International have announced that 13Th Street Universal and Syfy Universal will be available on KPN Interactieve TV IPTV platform from June, 1,2011. 13Th Street Universal will also become available as a ‘bonus channel’ on KPN’s DTT platform Digitenne.

The deal brings more than a million subscribers with 13Th Street Universal available on Digitenne as well as in the basic package of the IPTV platform “Interactivee TV”. Syfy Universal will now be available on the IPTV platform “Interactive TV” in the extended tier.

Colin McLeod, MD EMEA Emerging Markets said in a statement “The Netherlands continues to be a key market for UNI and we are pleased to be increasing our presence by securing the carriage of 13TH STREET Universal and Syfy Universal on KPN. These are dynamic ‘must-have’ channels – with top-quality programming – so we want them to be enjoyed by as many Dutch viewers as possible.”

KPN’s TV director Eric-Jan Doorenbosch added “We’re thrilled to add both 13Th Street Universal and Syfy Universal to our roster of channels; allowing us to offer even more fantastic programming options for our subscribers.”

The addition of 13Th Street Universal is part of an extention of KPN’s DTT platform. On June 1, KPN stops its DVB-H broadcasts and is now using the freeed up capacity to offer three ‘bonus channels’, that will be part of Digitenne’s basic offer till the end of the year. The Dutch music channel Slam!TV and Nickelodeon/Teen Nick are also part of the bonus bouquet.

Digitenne has also launched BBC One and BBC Two on the Digitenne platform and also placed the Dutch hard porn channel Meiden van Holland in the basic tier.
