Police have raided a hotel in Jaipur after allegations it was pirating TV signals from ESPN, Star Sports and Star Cricket.

According to a report by IndianTelevision.com, the channels’ distributor, ESPN Software India, contacted police who reportedly arrested one person and seized equipment including 77 viewing cards, set top boxes (STBs) and LCD televisions at Jaipur’s Hotel Vesta, following the FIR action filed by ESPN Software India.

“In this case, the Hotel Vesta International that qualifies as a commercial subscriber of such category was taking unauthorised feed from a leading DTH operator,” according to a statement from ESPN Software India.

The company also said similar police action had been taken in May against Hotel Palms, C-scheme in Jaipur and Maple Abhay in Jodhpur for allegedly broadcasting ESPN-Star Sports (ESS) channels without authorisation.
