According to latest figures published by telecom regulatory body Arcep, France is fast becoming the home of fast Internet.

Arcep found that by 31 March 2011, there were 21.8 million high-speed and very high-speed broadband internet subscribers on fixed networks, a year-on-year rise of 8%.

Very high-speed subs were up 55,000 to 520,000 over the three month period and included 140,000 FTTH and FTTB connections. FTTH subscriptions grew up 20,000 over the first quarter on 2011.

Around 1,135,000 homes have been passed by FTTH lines, 36% more than in March 2010.
