Managed multi-screen video solution from Avail-TVN
Digital media services company Avail-TVN has unveiled its new fully-managed multi-screen video service – Any View – at the NCTA Cable Show in Chicago. AnyView allows service providers to cost-effectively and quickly extend the traditional VOD and linear television experience to authenticated, broadband-connected devices such as PCs, Macs, tablets and smart phones. Trials of the service will begin in US markets in July. International trials of AnyView are currently underway at select sites — including several markets in the Caribbean — and will move to commercial deployments in Q3 2011.
AnyView leverages the latest IP-based technologies to deliver advanced services quickly and cost-effectively. Adaptive bitrate technology ensures a seamless, high quality TV-like viewing experience by detecting a user’s bandwidth and device capacity in real time and delivering encoded files at the appropriate data rate to connected consumer electronic devices.
This approach, along with Avail-TVN’s ‘through the (Service Provider) network delivery, aims to provide a consistently high level of video and audio quality while reducing streaming expenses. AnyView addresses the OTT threat by providing an integrated service that extends TV viewing to connected-device viewing, allowing authenticated subscribers to continuously view the same programme from one device to another.
AnyView currently supports a range of iOS, Android, OS X and Linux operated devices, including iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, PCs, Macs, and Roku. The AnyView roadmap also calls for support for many additional devices before US commercial launch. Furthermore, Avail-TVN has also secured multiplatform movie rights and permissions from a number of major and independent studios and a growing number of programmers. With hybrid delivery technology and cloud storage capability, service providers will be able to offer a virtually unlimited amount of content through the AnyView platform, says the company.
