The huge variety of available channel genres has driven the Argentinean pay-TV market to grow 4% in the first five months of 2011.

According to LAMAC, the key genres have been cinema, sports, entertainment and documentaries. However general interest and the news channels have lost audience.

On the other hand according to the information by IBOPE cinema channels grew 5% and sports channels grew 12% and entertainment channels 15%.

As for the channels containing programmes of general interest they went down a 2% and news channels went down another 6%.
Regarding the range of ages of the audiences, those between 18 and 49 years of age grew 4% in the pay-TV sector.
