German technical services provider Media Broadcast will carry out a DVB-T2 trial in Singapore. The city-state's Media Development Authority has commissioned the subsidiary of French TDF Group for the task preceding full-scale deployment.
Media Broadcast announced in Bonn that the test run will set the groundwork for the future regular transmission of free-to-air DTT channels in DVB-T2 standard.
Media Broadcast will provide technical consultancy to design and manage the trial network to determine transmission modes and technical parameters.
For this purpose, Media Broadcast will run a trial in conjunction with local broadcasters from the beginning of August 2011 to analyse the quality of in-house, outdoor and mobile reception in order to define best-fit specification of the planned DVB-T2 network design.
"After having supported the Asian Pacific Union's DVB-T2 demonstration in Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia in spring we are happy to extend our footprint in the region", said Media Broadcast CEO Bernd Kraus.
