Nintendo has confirmed that its 3DS TV service, called Itsu no Ma ni Terebi, or SpotPass TV, will go live in Japan from 21 June.

The service,will be available via an app from the Nintendo eShop and will feature original programming from Fuji TV and Nippon TV. All content will be free but will feature adverts.

Once enabled through SpotPass, episodes of each show will be automatically downloaded wirelessly to the 3DS every day.

The initial lineup of TV shows includes drama, documentary and sport. Fuji TV plans to expand the list of available shows in the near future.

Nintendo still hasnít confirmed when it will launch the service in Europe, following deals with Sky and Aardman Animation. Currently the only 3D content in the store is a trailer for the movie Green Lantern.
