Chinese internet firm Sohu is planning to spin off its online video unit to enable it to capture more advertising market share, according to the China Business News.

Sohu Video chief operating officer Liu Chun said the unit plans to enhance self-produced content and video information sharing on the platform, adding that there was no timetable for the spin-off.

In 2009, Sohu spun off and listed its online video games unit Changyou. Sohu's chief executive Charles Zhang has said he will spin off successful units to raise capital.
