How will Arabic news channel Al-Jazeera broadcast French football League 1 in France? This question is on everyone's lips after French football Professional League LFP announced the channel will share French TV rights with Canal+.

The French pay-TV channel has been granted four lots for an amount of 420m per year for the 2012-2016 period instead of 465m currently. Al Jazeera will get one lot for 90M, and show two live matches a week. Mobile and VoD rights have not been attributed yet.

However, the Qatari channel, which already owns the League 1 international TV rights, is making a noisy entry on the French market. According to the French press, the new sport channel the group intends to launch next January would be managed by Charles Bietry, formerly at Canal+ and PSG. The broadcaster would be in talks with operator Orange to take share into Orange Sport.
