Towercom has announced that it has successfully completed constructing Slovakia’s basic digital terrestrial transmission network.

Construction of the network began in September 2009, and three months later coverage already extended to 80.3% of the population.

The first multiplex, allocated to public service channels, was launched on June 6, 2010 and second, commercial multiplex on June 28, 2010.

They now reach over 95% and 91% of the population respectively.

Towercom is Slovakia’s national transmission company and also jointly operates the DTH platform Skylink with the Czech Republic’s TradeTec.

The Slovak public broadcaster STV is expected to complete ASO this August.
