Satellite operator SES has confirmed that all is on schedule for the launch at 23:45 CET on 1 July 2011 of its new ASTRA 1N satellite.

Built by EADS Astrium in Toulouse using a Eurostar E3000 platform and to be launched from the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana onboard an Ariane 5 ECA rocket, ASTRA 1N offers 52 Ku-band transponders and will first provide interim capacity at 28.2 East.

SES says that Once the initial position has been attained, the satellite will moved to 19.2 East, from where it will mainly serve the German, French and Spanish markets.
