The first broadcasting victim of Spain's economic crisis, Unidad Editorial's Veo 7 has closed down.
After having announced to remove its self productions and the firing of some 60 workers now the channel's executives have decided to give up totally and pull the plug on operations.
The channel's programming comprised news, talk shows on the daily news, films and entertainment in general. It will be replaced with a teleshopping channel.
Unidad Editorial's other channel is Marca TV which is not going through very good times either but at least not as bad as Veo 7—at present anyway.
Veo 7 ends its life with a share of 0.9% in May 2011 while in June 2011 month this figure went down to 0.5%.
