End users’ increased demands for set top boxes (STBs) capable of supporting OTT live video streaming has prompted box maker AirTies to entered into a partnership with middleware vendor BeeSmart.

The deal will see the latter’s software integrated within its range of set- top boxes to create the optimal, high quality, interactive TV user experience.

As a tangible first fruit of the relationship, the two firms will work on an AirTies box tuned to the needs of OTT and IPTV service and content providers. The new product will support live video streaming, video on demand (VOD) and value added services such as social networking and other interactive TV applications.

The new devices will offer support for Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) and Microsoft Smooth Streaming and AirTies’ patented mesh based wireless networking. The will also feature adaptive bit rate technology to support uninterrupted video broadcast with optimally high image quality and also Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) technology optimising high quality graphics regardless of screen definition.
