The new DreamWorks Television drama, ‘Falling Skies’, is to be shown in India on AXN later this year, after Sony Pictures Television Networks Asia bagged the rights from Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific.

The TV drama, which went on air in the US last month, stars Noah Wyle and counts Steven Spielberg as its executive producer. It begins with chaos following an alien attack which has disabled most of the world, and follows the movements of the few survivors who mount an insurgency campaign against the alien invaders.

“The launch of Falling Skies internationally promises to be a global television event,” proclaimed Steve Koonin, president, Turner Entertainment Networks. “We’re excited that people throughout Asia will be able to experience this great new series along with 75 other countries and regions around the world.”

Ricky Ow, senior vice president and general manager, Sony Pictures Television added: “We are pleased to have the first and exclusive Asian premiere of Falling Skies, which The Hollywood Reporter has lauded as ‘so good and so entertaining’. Our viewers across 15 territories will soon have a new, gripping series to look forward to.

“We are confident that Falling Stars is set to capture the imagination of even more viewers.”
