Samsung and French telco Orange have inked a European partnership agreement to provide Orange content and services portal for Samsung Smart TVs.
The portal will be available in France in the coming weeks on Samsung Smart TVs 2011 line-up and then on Samsung Blu-ray players and Home cinema 2011. International roll-out across other European countries where Orange is present is due from the second half of 2011. The portal is accessible to all, regardless of Internet service provider, but Orange Internet customers will get additional services in the coming months.
Designed to complement a traditional TV experience, the remote control accessed portal offers a selection of services such as Orange sport info, 2424actu, Liveradio, an enhanced programme guide, and even free content from Orange cinema series channels.
“This partnership with Samsung, the leading television manufacturer in Europe and throughout the world, will enable to provide an overview of Orange innovative content and services on all Samsung Internet connected TV sets in France” commented Xavier Perret, VP for Service Partnerships & Business Development at Orange.
Samsung Smart televisions incorporate an all-new Smart-Hub portal so users can get connected and discover a multitude of content. They also provide access to the Internet or the applications available on “Samsung Apps”.
