Uruguay's government has signed an official decree in its search for the liberalisation of the sector of 698 to 806 MHz spectrum band.

This band will be freed for the mobile broadband and is something the Spanish government is looking to do in 2015 in the so-called 'digital dividend' process. As a consequence of this, operator Cablevisión will have to get rid of 14 out of the 24 channels it has.

The fact is that the government has decided to put a limit in the number of the cable TV operator's channels in the inner country to a maximum of 10. This is the maximum necessary according to the government.

The intention of the government is make the internet accessible to everybody. The rise of mobile devices is causing these measures where digital television has been adopted.
