In the latest extraordinary move in the saga of News Corpís attempts to buy the remaining shares in BSkyB that it doesnít own, UK MPs of all parties are set to vote for a motion calling on Rupert Murdoch to drop his bid.

The motion is tabled by Leader of the Opposition Ed Milliband demanding News Corp to withdraw the bid "in the public interest". The mood of revulsion following the disclosure of the phone hacking scandal has turned public sympathy against News Corp and it is thought that only 9% of the UK public now wish the deal, which is now delayed and set for inspection by the UK Competition Commission, goes ahead.

Somewhat extraordinarily given that up until a few days ago it had been supportive of the bid, the UK government has orders its MPs to back Millibandís motion.
