Online DVD rental company Quickflix has signed a deal with Sony Australia that will see it stream movies to Sony's Bravia range of internet-enabled televisions.

The streaming service will be launched later in the year, and Quickflix will also stream to every Sony Bravia compatible device too, including some Blu Ray players and home theatre centres, as well as Sony VAIO computers.

Quickflix CEO Chris Taylor said the company plans to introduce streaming as part of its goal to reach a million customers in five years, adding that consumer demand for IPTV and other digital content was increasing, partly as a result of the switchover to digital TV.

Earlier this month Quickflix signed a deal with Telstra, in which the latter will direct its BigPond Movies DVD customers to Quickflix
