Networking solutions provider AboveNet is to provide fibre connectivity into Soho Data Centre, part of the Vision Holding group of companies that delivers online in Londonís creative quarter.
AboveNet currently provides IP services as part of Vision IPTV's private CDN (content delivery network), providing clients with secure private managed connections. This service is optimised for global video distribution over the public internet.
In January, Soho Data Holdings entered into a definitive agreement with Xiking Culture Media to create a new 4,000sqm high-specification data centre and render farm, dedicated to the creative video and TV industries. As part of this major project, Soho Data Centre is expanding its legacy network connection to Telehouse to include new diverse IP transit connectivity using AboveNet's optical network.
By utilising AboveNet's private fibre optic network and IP services, AboveNet claims that Vision IPTV will have access to resilient, secure data transfer which meets both current and future networking needs. Soho Data Centre customers will also be able to use a dense fibre deployment which allows for diverse routing options; bespoke designs and mapping and a secure network that extends into every major London data centre. The fibre network will also provide resilient support to Soho Data Centre's IP infrastructure, so that it can offer high quality and flexible capacity of bandwidth to its media clients.
"As our business specialises in the broadcasting services arena, it is imperative that we are able to deliver an uninterrupted service making diverse high bandwidth connectivity a prerequisite of our business," said John Mills, chief executive officer of Soho Data Holdings. "[The fibre] network provides unmatched resiliency and diversity which supports our growing demand for high bandwidth connectivity."
