International children's channel KidsCo has acquired a new show, Traces, an original TV animated series co-produced by Taiwanese animation studio Xanthus and Swiss animation studio Animagination.
There will be 13 x 25-minute episodes available in HD from 5 September across Asia and Africa.
Traces features two young heroes, Toni and Carla, who go back in time to explore the mysteries of the past. Having stumbled upon an archaeological site, Toni and Carla emerge several hundred years earlier. In each episode they embark on an adventure with their friend Ona, who is trying to stop the villain, Corbu. Along the way they learn a great deal about the world around them, such as why salt used to be a valuable commodity, and how sometimes the smallest of things can make the biggest of differences. Traces is to be the first Chinese series to be screened on KidsCo and will air in both Mandarin and English.
Eileen McCarthy, director of programming at KidsCo, said: “KidsCo is delighted to be supporting international co-productions to create shows that are designed, first and foremost, to make a positive difference in the world. We are really excited to be adding HD to our offering across Asia and Africa and plan to offer this show in VoD in the near future.”
Jay-Lin, managing director at Portico Media, kidsco's distributor in Taiwan, added: “Our aim in introducing the directors of Traces to KidsCo was to create the perfect environment for the programme. It’s such a great show and KidsCo’s commitment to providing compelling content that parents can trust and that kids enjoy, is so aligned with the values of the show. We are really excited about seeing the results and will continue to develop relationships to showcase other great Chinese animations.”
