Sony Pictures Television Networks Asia is expanding its One network in Singapore with the addition of a new Malay-language feed.
The Malay language One channel will be broadcast on pay-TV platform Starhub. It joins Mandarin-Chinese localised standard and high definition (HD) channels, One and One HD.
Both networks air shows in the region dubbed into Mandarin and launched on StarHub TV in April. One focuses on South Korean content and has an exclusive deal with Seoul broadcaster SBS.
The new network arrives as Starhub boosts its Malay content by launching another station in the language, 24-hour news network MNC Business. Both Malay channels will launch on 22 July.
Sony Pictures Television senior VP, GM, Networks, Asia, Ricky Ow said: “The tremendous success of One HD in Malaysia reflects the great potential for One (Malay) to be enjoyed by Malay-speaking audiences in Singapore. Working with StarHub TV, we are glad to share the joys of the latest and finest Korean content in Malay localisation. The launch of One (Malay) is perfectly timed to add to the fun and festivities leading up to the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebrations.”
Airing its shows with Malay language subtitling and a Malay dubbed programming block during primetime, One (Malay) is being rolled out as part of StarHub TV's One Sensation Pack. At launch, One (Malay) will be available for a two-week free preview for all StarHub TV customers. A promotion offering a 50% off the first three months' subscription to the One Sensation Pack will also apply.
