Mediapro's second national Spanish private channel laSexta 2 does not seem to know where to place itself in terms of programming.
Firstly it was a traditional channel; then it became a reality channel; some weeks ago the broadcaster's executives announced it would become a telenovelas channel and so it did; it has realised that 24/7 telenovelas does not work and it now contains part of what it has been transmitting so far.
Contrary to what is happening to laSexta's third channel laSexta 3, which offers film programming and which has been a big success, laSexta 2 is drifting off without any specific goal.
At the beginning of 2011, laSexta 2 had an average 0.6% of share but since becoming a telenovelas channel its share fell to 0.2%. This is the reason the channel's executives have caused it this drastic change at least for the summer season.
