German telco Deutsche Telekom will expand the TV line-up of its IPTV platform Entertain on 1 August 2011 with 3D The Channel.
The new service will show programmes covering sports, fashion, lifestyle, events and travel in three-dimensional format.
The schedule will comprise news from Hollywood ("Hollywood Cinema"), documentaries on animals, nature and other topics ("Docutain"), reports from the international fashion world ("lessfashionmag"), travel shows ("travelmag"), sports news ("sportsmag") and reports covering cultural events such as exhibitions, concerts and theatre ("stage").
3D The Channel will be operated by Munich-based media company Hollywood Cinema.tv founded by Marco Deutsch, the former head of German women's channel TM3 who will use the broadcast licence of his former travel channel tv.traveller for the new 3D service.
The channel, which will be offered exclusively by Entertain, will be available without additional charge for subscribers with fibre-optic lines (VDSL) and 3D TV sets.
Telekom will continue to offer 3D programmes as single events on Entertain including live football games of the Bundesliga and blockbuster movies.
The further new TV channels onboard Telekom's IPTV platform will be German sports channel sportdigital, French news channel France 24 and Al Jazeera English, the English-language version of Arabic news channel Al Jazeera.
