In a clear example of the evolution that MTV has made in the 25 years of its existence, MTV Latin America announced the premiere of its second self-produced telenovela 'Popland!'
A few years ago the company's executives wanted to move forward in the world of in-the-clear television and offer programming other than music video clips.
So now the channel -through its different international versions- also contains entertainment contents such as realities and TV series such as the aforementioned telenovelas, Latin America's most successful audiovisual genre which has been exported worldwide with some success.
The new channel's telenovelas—100% produced by MTV Latin America—will be available in the whole Latin America continent from next September 5th but also in the USA where it will be offered by Tr3s: MTV, Música and Más, and also on MTV España and MTV Italia.
"Through 'Popland!" we want to give our audiences a first place towards the world of the paparazzi. This reinforces our compromise with offering new, different and relevant contents" declared Fernando Gastón, Senior Content, Creativity and Music Vice-President at MTV Networks Latin America.
MTV's new telenovela has been produced in HDTV and it will be distributed by MTV Networks International Program Sales (IPS), the company's subsidiary responsible for the international distribution of programs, formats and coproduction activities for the different entertainment brands and also for the acquisition and sales of MTV Networks' original content.
