Telefónica Germany hasn't managed to acquire the expected large number of new customers for its IPTV platform Alice homeTV.
The service counted 79,500 customers at the end of Q2 2011 (30 June) - a mere 500 new subscribers within 3 months.
At the end of March 2011, the offer hat 79,000 customers. The number of ADSL customers grew by 29,000 to a total of 2.62 million in the same period. The figures were revealed at the telco's presentation of its half-year results in Munich.
Telefónica Germany considerably lags behind market leader Deutsche Telekom whose IPTV platform Entertain currently has around 1.3 million customers. Competitor Vodafone TV, who relaunched its TV offer Vodafone TV in mid-February 2011, currently has around 25,000 customers
