Prisa TV's Digital+'s first half results for 2011 show profits down nearly 82%, equating to €11.1 million compared with the same period last year.

The poor financial results announced by Prisa - owner of Prisa TV - are a disappointment for the owner of Spain's main pay-TV operator.

According to local sources, the company said that these results were due to its recent selling of its free-to-air channel Cuatro and the 'extraordinary effects' registered in the incomes and expenses in the same period last year and this year.

At the same time, Prisa's EBITDA shrank by 27,5% equating to €220.2 million, and its advertising income reached €315.87 million, meaning a reduction of 7.8% in the same period last year, mainly due to the negative impact of the deterioration of the whole advertising market in Spain.
Finally, with regard to the company’s audiovisual division, Grupo Prisa produced an income of €632.91 million in the first half of 2011.
