American pay-TV operator DirecTV’s net income has grown in Q2 this year thanks in a big part to Latin America.

The company’s revenue grew 13%, representing an increase to $6.6 billion from $5.85 billion, and its net income grew 29%, representing an increased to $701 million up from $543 million.

Net income in the three months from 30 June rose to $701 million, up from $543 million a year earlier.

However, Direct TV US got fewer new subscribers, adding only 26,000 in this period compared to 100,000 in Q2 last year. This period finished with 19.4 million subscribers.
As for DirectTV Latin America, the company’s profit grew 46% and the ARPU grew from $56.98 million to $64.56 million. The company’s Latin American business added a net 477,000 subscribers in the quarter.
