German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has confirmed it is increasing the number of its HD channels.

On 15 October 2011, Fox HD and Nat Geo Wild HD will join the platform. Both channels will be part of the basic package Sky Welt and be provided to subscribers at no additional charge, with Nat Geo Wild HD being exclusively available at Sky.

Fox HD, which has so far only been available within subscription packages offered by cable operators, mainly shows international TV series and German TV premieres. The standard-definition version of the channel is already part of the Sky line-up, as is Nat Geo Wild.

Nat Geo Wild, which mainly screens nature and animal documentaries, has so far not been available in high-definition in Germany.

With the latest additions, Sky Deutschland will offer a total of 31 HD channels, including more than 10 documentary channels.
