Austrian commercial broadcaster ATV is to get a sister channel, ATV 2, according to main shareholder Herbert Kloiber.

The channel will launch at around the turn of the year and target a younger audience than ATV. During daytime, Japanese cartoon series (Animes) like Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! will be shown, while the primetime hours will mainly be devoted to sitcoms and series. The content will predominantly come from the programme stock of Kloiber’s media company Tele München Gruppe.

ATV launched in January 2010 as Austria’s first nationwide commercial broadcaster. The channel can be received via DTT, cable, satellite, IPTV and mobile TV. “With ATV 2 we will enter the second decade and hope that quite a few things will change,” Kloiber said in Vienna.
