US online video VOD service Vudu, which is owned by Wal-mart, has announced that viewers can now rent, purchase and watch movies from VUudu directly on their iPad without the need to install an App.
“Just go to vudu.com via your iPad’s browser to navigate our collection of over 20,000 movies, now with the flick of your finger,” the company wrote in their blog. To make it easy to get to Vudu quickly, simply add the Vudu icon to your home screen, by clicking the “Add to Home Screen” button when you are on vudu.com/movies.”
Due to restrictions by content providers, playback is limited to SD quality. However, customers can purchase a movie on your iPad for viewing in HD or HDX resolution on their TV.
At this time, some studios have chosen not to permit Vudu to deliver its content on the iPad, including Walt Disney Corporation. Viewers can still browse and purchase this content on Vudu using their iPad, but they will not be able to view it on the iPad device.
