Samuel Eto'o: In talks with Anzhi
    ETO'O CRYPTIC OVER FUTURE

Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o has confirmed talks over a transfer to Anzhi Makhachkala are ongoing, but claims he could yet move to the Premier League.
Ambitious Russian side Anzhi are hoping to complete a sensational swoop for Eto'o and are reportedly ready to offer Inter 30million euros (26.3m) for the Cameroonian.
Reports also suggest that the 30-year-old will be handed a contract worth up to 20million euros (17.5m) a season in order to make the move to the Russian republic of Dagestan.
Speaking at a press conference in Douala, Eto'o was cryptic regarding his future at Inter, but confirmed there have been discussions with Anzhi.
However, having recently been linked with a move to Manchester City as part of a swap deal involving Carlos Tevez, the former Barcelona forward refused to rule out a switch to England.
"The negotiations (with Anzhi) are ongoing, you must be patient," Eto'o told reporters.
"There's nothing to say I will leave and nothing to say I will stay, there could still be a surprise from England.
"Wait until the end of the transfer window, which is coming up soon.
"The truth is I'm still under contract with Inter Milan. When I leave here I'll go and continue the negotiations."

Cesc Fabregas: Looks set for Barcelona return
BARCA BOSS WAITS ON FABREGAS ARRIVAL

Pep Guardiola admits Barcelona's prospects of signing Cesc Fabregas are "good", but acknowledged the midfielder is still an Arsenal player.
Barca appeared to be closing in on the protracted capture of Fabregas on Friday after a club spokesman suggested a deal was "hours away" from being announced.
A deal was expected to be completed over the weekend and that Fabregas would be in attendance for the first leg of Barca's Spanish Super Cup tie against Real Madrid on Sunday.
However, Guardiola is understood to have told Fabregas to delay his flight out to Spain in order to avoid upsetting Arsenal as talks continue over a deal.
Guardiola has now confirmed that the discussions are ongoing and appears optimistic Fabregas will eventually complete his return to the Nou Camp.
"He's not here yet," said the Barca coach.
"According to the information we have from club bosses negotiations are very advanced but there is still a document missing to confirm.
"The prospects are good, but he's still an Arsenal player. Otherwise I would confirm it."
Fabregas initially left Barca as a 16-year-old to join the Gunners in 2003 and he has been a mainstay of Arsene Wenger's plans.
He was wanted by his former club last summer, but Arsenal resisted offers for their captain, who was a 2010 World Cup winner with Spain.
However, it now appears that Gunners boss Wenger is ready to relent and allow Fabregas to rejoin Barca after admitting on Thursday that he expected a quick resolution to the matter.

Alan Pardew: Looking for more signings
    LLAMBIAS TARGETS FURTHER SIGNINGS

Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias has acknowledged the need for further reinforcements as manager Alan Pardew targets a striker and a left-back.
The Magpies have drafted in Yohan Cabaye, Gabriel Obertan, Sylvain Marveaux, Mehdi Abeid and Demba Ba this summer with Kevin Nolan and Jose Enrique having left, and Pardew is confident he will make further additions before the transfer deadline.
Writing in his programme notes ahead of Saturday evening's opening Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal at St James' Park, Llambias said: "We are delighted with the business that we have conducted in the transfer market this summer, and we added further quality to our squad this week with the signing of Gabriel Obertan from Manchester United.
"Gabriel is an exciting player and along with the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Sylvain Marveaux and Mehdi Abeid, we have every right to be pleased with our transfer activity so far.
"They are top-quality players who will hopefully make a big impression here, and added to the quality that we already have at the club, we are all very excited about the coming months.
"But we are fully aware of the need to add further players to our squad and we will be working hard to try and bring the right kind of players in before the transfer window shuts in 18 days."

    Keane: Linked with LA Galaxy
GALAXY QUIET ON ROBBIE KEANE LINK

The Los Angeles Galaxy have declined to confirm they are targeting a move for Tottenham's Robbie Keane.
Keane, 31, this week revealed he expects to leave Tottenham before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
Widespread reports have claimed the Galaxy want to bring Keane to Major League Soccer, where he could team up with former England captain David Beckham.
The Republic of Ireland's all-time record goalscorer began his career with Wolves and has also had spells with Coventry, Inter Milan Leeds, Liverpool and loans with Celtic and West Ham.
Asked specifically to comment on the Keane link, a spokesman for the Galaxy said in a statement: "We are always looking to improve our squad and have contacted or been contacted by a host of players during the current transfer window.
"As soon as we have something confirmed in regards to any potential player acquisitions we will be sure to alert everyone."

Mata: Won't be joining Arsenal this summer
    NO MATA MOVE FOR GUNNERS

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Arsenal will not be signing Juan Mata while adding the club are also not in talks for Brazilian playmaker Jadson.
Spain international Mata has been a target for the Gunners this summer but Wenger says the Valencia man will not be moving to the Emirates Stadium before the transfer window closes.
"We will not do (a deal for) Juan Mata. I don't have to give a reason," he said.
Meanwhile, Wenger, who looks set to lose Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri over the next few days, also distanced himself from a move for Brazilian playmaker Jadson, who is valued at around 10million by his club Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Gunners have been linked with the Brazilian for some time but, despite the prospect of losing two midfielders this month, the club are not actively seeking Jadson as a possible replacement.
"We are nowhere near on Jadson. We are not talking to Shakhtar about him," Wenger said.

    Kean: Recruitment drive 'ongoing'
KEAN EYEING MAN UTD LOAN SWOOP

Blackburn manager Steve Kean is hoping to turn to Manchester United if he needs to sign a player on loan.
Kean is friends with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and has already spoken with the Red Devils manager about possible deals.
Rovers had United's 23-year-old striker Mame Biram Diouf on loan last season and Kean is now hoping for another raid.
"I had a chat with Sir Alex after Paul Scholes' testimonial about a couple of players and that is ongoing," said Kean.
"I don't want to name names because I want to be respectful of Manchester United and Sir Alex.
"We have a good relationship and hopefully we can keep going so that, if we do want a player on loan, he will be sympathetic."

Carlos Cuellar: Rangers out of the running
GERS PULL PLUG ON CUELLAR DEAL

Rangers director of football Gordon Smith has revealed the Scottish Premier League champions will not pursue their interest in Aston Villa central defender Carlos Cuellar.
Ally McCoist made the Spaniard, who left Ibrox for Villa Park in an 8m deal in the summer of 2008, one of his major signing targets of the summer.
However, injuries to the former Osasuna star held the deal up and Smith insists no move will be made during this transfer window.
Speaking to BBC Radio, the former SFA chief executive said: "The deal for Carlos was not held up because we didn't offer the money.
"Rangers have withdrawn their interest in this period. The problem is we were waiting to see what his injury situation was."

    Poulsen: Wants regular football
    POULSEN EYEING ANFIELD EXIT

Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen accepts his future lies away from the club and hopes to seal a move this month.
The Denmark international made little impact in his first season after being signed by former Reds boss Roy Hodgson last summer.
With Kenny Dalglish now possessing a wealth of talent in the centre of midfield, Poulsen is surplus to requirements.
"My future needs to be resolved in August and preferably as soon as possible," Poulsen told Danish television station TV2.
"I have to get to play matches regularly. It's obvious that I would really like to play football."

Craig Bellamy: Remains a target for Celtic
    LENNON STILL CHASING BELLAMY

Celtic manager Neil Lennon believes signing Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy is still an option before the closure of the transfer window.
Lennon is keen to agree a deal to bring in the Wales international, who enjoyed a loan spell at Parkhead earlier in his career.
Bellamy has been told he has no future at Premier League title contenders City after spending last season on loan at Cardiff.
There have been reports that Bellamy is not interested in joining the Bhoys, but Lennon is not giving up on a deal for the 32-year-old.
The Celtic chief is also in the market for a new left-back after losing Emilio Izaguirre for several months due to injury.
"Craig is still an option," said Lennon. "It could even be a last-day thing.
"I've not spoken to him but I'll liaise with Manchester City on that. We haven't had a definitive 'no' on it.
"I'm sure people will become available when the English clubs name their 25-man squads. Sometimes you have to play a waiting game but we are working on a number of things.
"We'd like to bring a left back in to cover Izaguirre's loss, maybe until January. But it's difficult to convince players just to come until then."

    Ishmael Miller: Heading for Nottingham
    ISHMAEL MILLER SET FOR FOREST

West Brom striker Ishmael Miller is set to join Nottingham Forest for an initial 1.2million fee on a three-year deal.
The Baggies accepted offers earlier this week for the 24-year-old from both Forest and their championship rivals Leicester.
However, the Reds confirmed on Saturday that the deal had been agreed for Miller with the formalities to be completed on Monday.
Miller started his career with home town club Manchester City, scoring one goal in 17 appearances before joining the Baggies on a season-long loan deal in 2007.
The 6ft 3in forward netted seven goals in 21 games to secure a permanent move to the Hawthorns in January 2008.
Miller suffered a cruciate ligament injury in December 2008 and spent 14 months on the sidelines before joining QPR in January 2011.
