TV operators will soon be able to deliver programming directly via broadband to the open-standards-based LG Smart TV platform thanks to a new cloud-based publishing platform.

LG Electronics and Clearleap are creating a joint solution that provides television service providers a quick and efficient way to deliver content and new services to pay-TV subscribers while saving money on capital expenditures. Clearleap's Stream On Demand IP content management and delivery technology allows operators to manage, process and publish video via the cloud, and to create and offer a TV Everywhere service.

"LG has been pioneering innovative revisions to the TV experience and continues to do so by making it simple and cost-effective for TV operators to deliver programming services directly to their IP-connected Smart TV sets," said Clearleap CEO Braxton Jarratt, in a statement. "Cable TV operators - big and small - now have at their fingertips the ability to deliver a more robust and fully-managed service to subscribers using broadband networks – and we fully expect them to take advantage of that."

Clearleap recently announced the integration of its streaming solutions with a variety of connected entertainment TV box providers as well as a set of APIs for TV operators.
