Viacom has appointed Macky Drese as vice president of international sales, indicating the media juggernaut has designs on expanding its global reach for advertising.

The announcement follows the success that Viacom company MTV has gained in a global collaboration with Volkswagen as its exclusive media and brand solutions partner for the launch of 21st Century Beetle.

"This appointment builds on the huge momentum and success we have achieved in Germany over the past few months," commented Antonio Canto, senior vice president at Viacom International Media Networks for VBSI, Viacom’s in-house brand solutions sales business focusing on global and multinational accounts. "Macky’s strong experience in creating and selling large scale brand solutions and events, as well as his stellar understanding of the business make him the perfect addition to our team."

Viacom, which owns Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon, says that it is moving into a next phase of growth. "We will be in a position to seek new opportunities and take VBSI’s business in this key market to much higher levels in 2012 and beyond," said Canto.

The idea is to target brands wishing to reach youth globally--the coverted "Millennial" demographic. Using the power of MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, BET, non-premium Paramount Pictures-branded channels, VH1, VIVA, MTVHD, TMF (The Music Factory), COLORS, Game One and Tr3s: MTV, Musicá y Mas, a channel for US Hispanic audiences, Drese will work closely with the local German Viacom Brand Solutions team to develop opportunities to grow VBSI’s revenues , and for strengthening key client relationships.
