By September Star TV will have an end to end digital cloud system, becoming the first broadcaster in India to adopt the increasingly popular cloud computing technology.
Star’s content will be shot in high definition (HD), processed on the cloud ecosystem and then broadcast over multiple platforms, according to the Deccan Chronicle.
Production companies and advertising agencies can upload content over the internet, enabling staff at Star India to broadcast it anywhere within the cloud. TV programmes could then be streamed to any web-enabled device.
Cloud technology has already been embraced by big industry players such as Apple, which is soon to launch iCloud, a free service that gives iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch users access to their apps – including video related ones – via the cloud. The new service will be incorporated into the upcoming iOS 5 upgrade.
