The Flying Goddess Awards, China's official recognition for the country's outstanding TV programmes, announced its winners in Beijing on Tuesday.

A total of 161 eligible shows have joined the competition, according to Xinhuanet, with 42 entries making it to the final round of the competition.

In the TV series category, first prize is shared by "Liberation," "The Beautiful Era of a Daughter in Law" and "Who's to Call the Shots of My Youth."

In other categories, "Ma Xiaotiao the Naughty" secured second prize for Most Popular Children's TV Show. "Men in the Mountains" was also recognized as a second prize winner for an Opera TV Series. Top prizes in both categories remained vacant.

The Flying Goddess Awards started in 1981, and since 2005 the annual competition has become a biennial event
