The IAAF World Athletics Championships, being held in Daegu, Korea from 27 August to 4 September, will be watched by viewers in more than 200 countries worldwide.
The sales of broadcasting rights for the IAAF World Athletics Series of which the World Championships is the main event, are brokered by Dentsu, the IAAF Commercial Partner for media rights outside Europe and Africa, and IEC in Sports, the IAAF Media Agency for Europe and Africa.
In Russia, IEC in Sports has finalised a deal with the public broadcaster Rossija for the Daegu 2011, with at least all evening sessions being shown live.
A last minute deal with RUV, the Icelandic public broadcaster, has also been confirmed for the championships, while following the conclusion of a deal with newly launched channel SPTV in Croatia, a second agreement in the country with public broadcaster HRT has also been finalised in time for Daegu.
Dentsu’s highlights package with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, when combined with the individual agreements in each territory, ensures blanket coverage beyond Europe and Africa.
