Vodafone will deploy YouTube's application for the TV that brings user-generated fare to the big screen, in up to 720p HD video quality, with easy navigation and quick access to YouTube search.

Vodafone is turning up the feature thanks to the client middleware that it has implemented from Wyplay, which integrates the 'YouTube on TV' application.

"We believe that members of Wyplay's Tier 1 operator ecosystem are great candidates for YouTube on TV," said Francisco Varela, director of Platform Partnerships at YouTube.

Wyplay software solutions power connected media players at carriers like Vodafone and SFR, and offer a range of global and local Web services (VoD, MoD, GoD), Over-The-Top (OTT) content, media playback via intuitive 3D interface, support for widgets, connectivity options and turnkey user interface creation, from design to implementation. Supported devices include connected HDTVs, Media Center CE devices, HD IPTV boxes, DVB-S/C/T HD STBs and in-home media-HDD products.

"YouTube has created a compelling OTT application for operators," said Dominique Feral, executive vice president of marketing at Wyplay. "YouTube has created this experience by surfacing the innovative content created by its global community. Wyplay is proud to have been selected to enable and provide 'YouTube on TV' to our Tier 1 operators."
