Multi-platform video-on-demand (VOD) service Bitbop has launched in Germany at consumer electronics fair IFA currently taking place in Berlin.
Bitbop offers full-length commercial-free US series and German TV progammes which can be watched on computers, tablet-PCs or smartphones including the iPhone and iPad from Apple.
For a flat fee of €9.99 per month, users get unlimited access to the whole stock of around 3,000 videos including US series like "Entourage", "Sex and the City", "Sopranos" and "Breaking Bad", partially in the original English-language version. The German offer comprises productions such as "Stromberg", "Anna und die Liebe" and "Die Wochenshow".
The content is provided by 15 TV broadcasters and production studios including ARD, ZDF, ProSiebenSat.1, MTV Networks, Sony Pictures and HBO.
Bitbop (http://www.bitbop.de), which has been in test mode since May 2011, is operated by German-American company Jesta Digital. In the USA, the service was launched in August 2010.
