German pay-TV broadcaster Planet will become available on satellite platform AustriaSat in autumn 2011.

With the move, the documenary channel will be able to reach DTH satellite households in Austria for the first time in addition to its current cable and IPTV carriage.

AustriaSat offers 16 thematic channels on Astra (19.2° East) for €7,90 per month. Reception is through the widely distributed smartcard of public broadcaster ORF.

"The carriage on satellite platform AustriaSat is a furthr milestone in our distribution strategy to make use of all transmission methods for our documentary channel," said Alexander Trauttmansdorff, managing director of parent company HV Fernsehbetriebs GmbH.

In Austria, Planet is also available at A1 TV (Telekom Austria), UPC Austria and UPC Tirol.
