Triple play telco Etisalat has placed an order for a multi-format playout centre from Qvest Media in order to grow its internet protocol television (IPTV) business in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Integral to the order are production and transmission facilities for nine playout channels, according to the contractor, which is part of Germany’s Wellen+Nöthen Group. However, when ready, says Qvest Media, there will be eleven on air playout channels available with the minimum of set up time.

SM4 will provide a central media asset management system to enable cross functional control for ingest, playout, central storage, studio automation, plus video, audio and graphics editing.

Qvest Media sites the challenges of equipping the technical environment with a workflow that is easy and intuitive in order to accommodate alternating operators, and keeping the platform compatible with varied standards and formats as being key to the project - which it will plan, construct, commission and support.
