Austrian pay-TV platform AustriaSat has added the high-definition versions of the RTL channels to its HDTV package: RTL HD, RTL II HD and VOX HD are now part of the offering which DTH satellite households in Austria can receive through Astra (19.2° East).

Initially, the German versions of the RTL channels are offered to subscribers. Next year, the Austrian versions will be made available in high-definition.

In total, HD Austria (http://www.hdaustria.at) now contains 10 channels including Austrian commercial broadcaster Puls 4, news channel N24 and channels operated by TV groups ProSiebenSat.1 and MTV Networks.

The package, which is encrypted in Irdeto, costs €49.90 if a 12 months subscription is taken. If a viewer prefers to retain the option to cancel the subscription any month, then the package costs €6.90 per month. The offering can be tested 3 months free-of-charge,
