The video-on-demand (VOD) application developed by Swiss multimedia provider Viewster will be carried by Samsung devices on all platforms and in all territories.

The agreement, which was announced by the Zurich-based company, will cover TV sets, blu-ray players, tablet-PCs and smartphones.

The application, which will give access to Viewster's on-demand catalogue of movies and TV shows, will be available through Samsung apps for 2010 and 2011 connected TV sets as well as on blu-ray players in over 120 countries.

Viewster will also be offered on connected TV sets and blu-ray players within Samsung's "Explore 3D" 3D VOD service and in "Your Video" which compiles recommendations based on a user's viewing history.

In the mobile space, Viewster's Android and Bada 2.0 based mobile applications will be included on key Samsung smartphones and tablets including the Galaxy and Wave series.

The Viewster multi-platform VOD application enables viewing across multiple devices using a single sign-on. This means that a user can, for example, begin watching a movie at home on the Samsung TV set and then resume viewing it on a Galaxy Tab while waiting for a friend in a café with wi-fi.

Samsung customers will be able to choose to watch movies from Viewster either free-of-charge with ads or as paid rentals.
